    Konstantin Khanin is a Professor at the University of Toronto. His research interests are centered around the theory of dynamical systems, probability theory, and mathematical physics.


    Abstract

    Starting with a historic outlook, we shall discuss many beautiful properties of continued fractions. We shall also discuss applications of continued fraction. In particular, we shall prove Denjoy Theorem on topological rigidity of circle homeomorphisms with irrational rotation numbers.
