Introducing the ICCM Creative Undergraduate Thesis Award

To encourage young people to begin mathematical research during their undergraduate years, and to locate outstanding undergraduate students and creative papers, the ICCM Creative Undergraduate Thesis Award was established and conferred for the first time at the 9th International Congress of Chinese Mathematicians (ICCM) by Prof. Shing-Tung Yau.

Through judge recommendation and self-recommendation, the ICCM Creative Undergraduate Thesis Award has received 56 entries from 27 universities in the preliminary evaluation phase. After careful review, 10 candidates from Tsinghua University, Peking University, the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nankai University, the University of Science and Technology of China, Nanjing University, Southeast University, Zhejiang University, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong were shortlisted. The in-person review took place on the morning of July 30 in Nanjing. Based on candidates' presentations and scoring by judges, the final winners will be announced in the award ceremony on the evening of August 2.
