On the afternoon of December 13th, Qiuzhen College and a delegation from the Minerva College of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) discussed Mingzhi Zhai, Shuangqing Comprehensive Building. Zheng Shaoyuan, Dean of Minerva College, Li Qiao, Ju Han, Zhai Runzhi, Huang Qiyao, Wang Ruihan, full development mentors, Wei Yunzhu, administrative director, and Min Zibei, Fang Xuo, and Du Zeji, the administrative staffs attended the discussion. Wang Xiaofang, Assosiate Dean of Qiuzhen College, Liu Xin, undergraduate student affairs, Zhou Zhi, director of comprehensive administration, Wang Zhe, deputy leader of the student group, Xu Fulin, and other officials attended the discussion. The meeting was presided over by Chen Zhijie, Assosiate Dean of Qiuzhen College.
Discussion and exchanging site
On behalf of Qiuzhen, Chen Zhijie first welcomed the arrival of the teachers of Minerva College and introduced the basic situation of the college. Qiuzhen College was established at Tsinghua University in April 2021, with Academician Shing-Tung Yau hired as the dean, with the sole mission goal of cultivating leading mathematical talents. It is hoped that the two sides can strengthen more communication and exchanges in the future and jointly explore the talent training mode of the college system.
Zheng Shaoyuan(Shiu-Yuen Cheng) said that although the two schools have different college training systems, they can learn their management experience from each other's work. At present, the number of students in Minerva College has been quite large. Minerva College gradually explores its own college culture through the introduction of freshmen, community culture construction, and student backbone training. Since the establishment of the College nearly three years ago, Mr.Yau has led the team of Qiuzhen to achieve good results and accumulated valuable experience, which can be used for reference by Minerva College.
Wang Zhe introduced the work of students in four aspects of student work, party building, league organization, and other daily work. The college students group under the leadership of the party committee and the college, to implement the academic training target, and cultivate mathematics talents for the direction, with the help of college students' work system, carried out a rich variety of thought lead, collective construction, professional cognition, emotional construction activities, is committed to improving students' comprehensive quality and ability, guide the college students patriotic dedication, all-round development.
Li Qiao systematically introduced the organizational structure of Minerva College, the whole-person development concept, and life. Minerva College is the sixth college established in the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), adhering to the "kind tolerance professional innovation" school training, paying attention to the whole development, guiding the student in the academic road innovation, with open inclusive attitude to explore knowledge, and through various experiential activities, provide students to open the world more likely, cultivate youth to adapt to the era of society.
In the free communication section, Wang Xiaofang responded to the research questions related to the physical space construction and management of Qiuzhen proposed by Minerva College and fully communicated with the colleagues of Minerva College in combination with the problems encountered in the current physical space construction of Qiuzhen. The two sides had in-depth exchanges and discussions on the backbone training of the college student organization, the class counselor system, the evaluation and management of grants, and the management of international student convergence, learning from each other and learning from valuable experience.
