On July 24, the second session of "Scientists Face to Face" of the International Basic Science Conference was held at Yanqi Lake Applied Mathematics Research Institute in Beijing. Professor Xin Zhouping said that mathematics is highly abstract, with both beautiful and applied sides. All the students here have the idea of pursuing beauty but also have the driving force to overcome the difficulties. They should give full play to their imagination and pursue the beauty and purity of mathematics.
Academician Zhang Ping said that basic research is very difficult and time-consuming. Only by perseverance and continuous research can we produce major original achievements with world influence. Construction of the world science and technology is a relay, needs generation after generation to struggle, youth is one of the futures of the motherland, the hope of the nation, should have a scientific dream, constantly strengthen basic scientific knowledge, actively cultivate interest to explore the unknown interest, and, as when, to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the dream of becoming a strong country in science and technology.
The high school students present raised their questions one by one, and with the yearning for science and the reverence for scientists, they attentively listened to the explanation, and actively participated in the communication and interaction. In response to the question of whether artificial intelligence will surpass the best human mathematician, Academician Yau said, that mathematics and science are mainly related to change, for now, artificial intelligence cannot identify the law behind geometry, more unable to identify the correlation between mathematics and other science, artificial intelligence will not replace the human thinking. When talking about the development trend of mathematics, Academician Zhang Ping pointed out that the intersection and integration of the branches of mathematics and the relationship have become closer and closer, which also promotes the development of mathematics itself. Academician Yau said that each branch of mathematics is integrated, and only when each branch learns well, can they have the ability to deal with mathematical problems on different occasions.
Face-to-face contact and communication with scientists gave a vivid science class for high school students, which not only narrowed the distance between scientists and students but also made students deeply understand the significance of scientific research, and feel the charm of scientific research, thus stimulating their enthusiasm and interest in basic subjects.

Professor Zhu Xi Ping said that academic research is a very long road, really can run down, run far, or go through a very long road. On this road, there are often few things to get, most of the time are disappointed or distressed, and students sink their hearts, only sink their hearts, over time, to get better growth.
During the communication session, the freshman and sophomore students raised questions closer to the specific difficulties they encountered in their daily studies and research.

Academician Yau suggested to the students that when they encounter problems in learning, they can read more books and listen to more speeches, especially the speeches of the masters. Their ideas are likely to bring you enlightenment.
The five scientists present combined their own study experience and scientific research experience to lead the students to have a deeper understanding of the essence and methods of research.
