The fourteenth lecture of the "Qiuzhen Traveler's Eyes Lecture" was held in the High School Affiliated to Fudan University.
On January 1, 2024, the fourteenth lecture of the "Qiuzhen Traveler's Eyes Lecture" was held in the High School Affiliated to Fudan University. The lecture attracted a number of academic masters, including Mr. Sheng-Tung Yau. Dean of Qiuzhen College of Tsinghua University. The lecture aims to provide secondary school students with a new academic perspective and an in-depth discussion of the development of mathematics through the perspective of the history of mathematics. During the event, Wu Jian, principal of the High School Affiliated to Fudan University, emphasized the importance of the integrated development of education, science and technology and talents, especially mathematics, as the foundation of all sciences, and the need to strengthen talent training. Yilin Hong, a 2022 student of Qiuzhen college,, vividly introduced the history of quadratic curves and the application of modern mathematics through the report "Talking about Quadratic Curves". Chenglong Bao, assistant professor of the Sheng-Tung Yau Center for Mathematical Sciences at Tsinghua University, gave a speech entitled "On Linear Algebra in College Mathematics", showing the wide application and beauty of linear algebra. In his concluding remarks, Mr. Yau shared his academic research journey and expectations for young people, emphasized the importance of basic science, and encouraged students to dare to challenge big questions and explore their potential. After the lecture, the students actively asked questions and showed a strong interest in mathematics. The event not only provided valuable learning opportunities for students, but also stimulated their enthusiasm for math and science exploration.

The 2024 preparatory class of the "Yau Mathematical Sciences Leaders Program” of Qiuzhen College was opened.
On the afternoon of February 24, Qiuzhen College of Tsinghua University held the opening ceremony of the 2024 preparatory class of the "Yau Mathematical Sciences Leaders Program". Luming Li, President of Tsinghua University, attended the event and delivered a welcome speech to the new students. President Luming Lishared the development history of Tsinghua University and the background of the establishment of the Qiuzhen Academy, emphasized the importance of the school motto of "unremitting self-improvement and virtue", and encouraged Qiuzhen students to integrate this spirit into the pursuit of innovation and undertake the historical mission of national rejuvenation. President Luming Li has high expectations for the university life of Qiuzhen students, encouraging them to establish high ambitions, firm academic pursuits, grow through overcoming difficulties and diligent study, and eventually achieve first-class achievements in the field of mathematics. Zhijie Chen and Yong Lin, vice deans of Qiuzhen College of Tsinghua University, respectively introduced the development of the college and the training plan in the preparatory stage. Student representatives and parent representatives also shared their learning experiences and insights. Finally, Dean Sheng-Tung Yau of the Qiuzhen College of Tsinghua University delivered a speech, putting forward four expectations for the Qiuzhen students: cultivate interest in learning, establish lofty goals, lay a good academic foundation, and actively communicate with others.
