On August 11th, the "Truth-seeking Tour Lecture" of Tsinghua University was held in B203 in the Nigang Campus of Shenzhen Middle School. Shing-Tung Yau, Dean of Qiuhen College of Tsinghua University, Director of Shing-Tung Yau Mathematical Science Center of Tsinghua University, and President of Beijing Yanqi Lake Applied Mathematics Research Institute, attended the scene and delivered a speech. Wang Xiaofang and Lin Yong, vice presidents of Qiuzhen College of Tsinghua University, Yang Ping, Deputy Secretary of the Education Working Committee of Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee, Zhu Huawei, principal of Shenzhen Middle School, and Xiong Zhisong, vice principal of Shenzhen Middle School attended the event.

Zhu Huawei delivered the opening speech. He first extended a welcome to Mr.Shing-Tung Yau and the teachers and students of Qiuzhen College at Shenzhen Middle School. He said that the original intention of the tour lecture represent the wisdom of ancient Chinese people and remind us to be full of enthusiasm for learning today. The history of mathematics and the story of mathematicians are beautiful, and swimming in the world of mathematics is a kind of enjoyment. Mathematics is not limited to mathematics itself, it is the foundation of all science. I hope that Shenzhen Middle School can get the guidance of Mr.Yau and Qiuzhen College of Tsinghua University in future talent training. Zhu Huawei said that the light of science is the most dazzling, and one of the biggest goals of science is to pursue eternal truth, and the spirit of pursuing truth itself has become a powerful force for social development and human progress. He expects the students to set lofty aspirations early, follow the inner guidance, and forge themselves into the pillars of the job.

Yang Yicheng, a student of 2021 at Qiuzhen College, gave a report on the history of mathematics entitled "Starting from the vibration of strings". He introduced that in the early days of calculus, the differential equations obtained in physics were inseparable from the progress of mathematics. Euler obtains two differential equations while studying the vibration of the string and the drum surface, from which it is now called the Fourier series. Mathematicians at the time still doubted the theory, until decades later Fourier and Besel came to general conclusions. At the beginning of the 20th century, the invention of Leberg integral and Hilbert space strictly changed the previous theories, promoted the process of mathematical axiom, and has been applied in quantum mechanics and other fields.

Lin Yong introduced Qiuzhen College from the aspects of establishment background, talent training program, curriculum setting, teacher strength, talent training characteristics, and talent training achievements, and helped the teachers and students on the spot to have more understanding of Qiuzhen College.

Mr.Yau mentioned in his concluding speech that the "everything" of mathematics can be seen from the vibration of the strings. The majority of middle school students need to understand the development of mathematics history, which will add more in-depth background to the current research topic."First-class talents need the guidance of first-class scholars, and they are inseparable from basic knowledge and social experience."Mr.Yau sent a message to the students that they could become national cutting-edge scientific talents. He said that the country attaches great importance to the development of basic science, which has great prospects. He encouraged students not to worry about scientific research, but to believe in themselves and constantly stimulate their creativity.

After listening to the lecture, the students had interactions with Mr.Yau on the learning methods of algebra and geometry and how to choose the future scientific research path. Finally, Mr.Yau presented a souvenir to the students and took a group photo.

"Truth-seeking Tour Lecture" advocated by Mr.Yau, by the college students on mathematics history, aims to let more middle school students understand the history of mathematics, understand different periods, different countries big mathematicians' important contributions to the development of mathematics, explore the development of world mathematics history, standing on the shoulders of giants, learning mathematics masters learning methods and attitude, but also to let more Chinese students have a strong interest in mathematics, let the profound mathematics civilian.

Before this, the "Truth-seeking Tour Lecture" was successfully held in 10 cities, including Zunyi, Guizhou, Guilin, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, Nanjing, Anhui, Hefei, Shanghai, Qufu, Shandong, Guangzhou, Beijing, Hong Kong, China, etc. This lecture is the twelfth session of Qiuzhen College. Shenzhen is an important window for China's reform and opening up. With its openness, inclusiveness, innovation, and entrepreneurship, Shenzhen has attracted countless talents here to show their youth. This lecture came to Shenzhen. Students communicated with Shenzhen students face to face, hoping to ignite and strengthen their interest in learning mathematics and contribute their wisdom and strength to the development of basic science in Shenzhen and even the whole country in the future. The lecture was strongly supported by Shenzhen Middle School, China Association for Science and Technology, South +, Southern Metropolis Daily, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily, Shenzhen Evening News, Shenzhen Radio and Television Group, and other media. More than 600 people from many teachers and students in Shenzhen and representatives of Qiuzhen College of Tsinghua University participated in the activity.
