Qiuzhen College announced the award list of "Outstanding Friends Scholars" in the spring semester of 2023
In the spring semester of 2023, the College had a total of 38 helpful scholars, including outstanding postdoctoral students from Yau Mathematical Science Center (YMSC) and Beijing Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Applications (BIMSA). The main responsibility of Yiyou Scholars is to help preparatory students and freshmen better adapt to the transition from middle school to college through daily communication and tutoring. Each helpful scholar is responsible for guiding 4-5 students and carrying out communication activities with students every week. Yiyou scholars have played an important role in learning students' professional courses, extracurricular knowledge expansion, adaptation to university life, and access to various resources. At the end of this semester, a total of 15 outstanding friendly friends scholars were selected after the comprehensive assessment of the academy.
The College hosted two important performances of the first International Conference of Basic Science
As a top academic event, the first International Conference of Basic Science has attracted hundreds of first-class scholars from all over the world to Beijing to participate in the event. In addition to academic mutual learning, at the request of Shing-Tung Yau, President of the International Conference of Basic Science, and with the strong support of Beijing Dance Academy, the College hosted two important performances during the conference to show the splendid Chinese culture to scholars all over the world. On the afternoon of July 16, 2023, the [unity of nature and human] theme performance to celebrate the successful opening of the International Conference of Basic Science was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing; On the evening of July 17, the [Yanshan Futian] performance celebrating the opening of BIMSA was successfully held in the A2 lecture hall of the institute. In the two important performances, the students of the Qiuzhen College performed "Ode to the Truth", "Lingyun Song" and "One World Inside of One Sand " respectively.

Master Face To Face | Youth And Scientists Thought Collision
On July 22, a group of teenagers with scientific dreams entered Tsinghua University to participate in the special activity of the International Basic Science Conference -- "Master face to face". In this activity full of scientific ideas and innovative atmosphere, nearly 200 teachers and students, including teachers and students of Qiuzhen College, talked and communicated with many international top masters in the field of mathematics and physics, and launched an ideological collision between young people and science masters.

The "Forum of Basic Science and Artificial Intelligence", initiated by Mr.Yau, chairman of the first International Conference on Basic Science, was held at the National Science and Technology Communication Center on the afternoon of July 23. Mr.Sun Maosong, professor of the Department of Computer Science and Technology of Tsinghua University, Executive Vice President of the Research Institute of Artificial Intelligence of Tsinghua University, foreign academician of the European Academy of Sciences, member of the Association of Computational Linguistics (ACL), member of the Chinese Society of Artificial Intelligence, and president of Chinese Information Society hosted the forum.
The forum is hosted by the Science and Technology Communication Center of China Association for Science and Technology and the Qiuzhen College of Tsinghua University, and co-organized by the Youth Science and Technology Center of China Association for Science and Technology and Beijing Science Center. The forum attracted more than 600 representatives from Baidu, Intel, Microsoft Research Asia, Jingdong, Meituan, Zhiyuan Research Institute, and other technology circles and industries, as well as students from Qiuzhen College of Tsinghua University and more than 10 outstanding high schools in Beijing.

On July 24, the second session of "Scientists Face to Face" of the International Conference of Basic Science was held at BIMSA in Beijing. Representatives of freshmen and sophomores from Qiuzhen College of Tsinghua University and 50 high school students had an academic discussion and exchange with scientists to explore the true meaning of science and the pursuit of truth.

From July 16 to 28,2023, the first International Conference of Basic Science (ICBS) was successfully held in Beijing. More than 800 scientists from around the world gathered in Beijing to discuss the cutting-edge achievements in basic science and look forward to the future development direction of basic science research. More than 200 students from Qiuzhen College of Tsinghua University participated in the conference and provided volunteer services as volunteer volunteers. Through the opening ceremony, the media meeting, the awards ceremony, the welcome dinner to the physical night, mathematics, scientists, face-to-face, and another important link, the students have the opportunity to communicate with important guests through close discussion, assist the conference organizing committee for the attending experts, check-in, translation, guidance, and scheduling provide services.

The eleventh "Youmu Lecture" was held at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
On August 9th, the Qiuzhen College "Youmu Lecture" was held at the Lihuang Biyao building of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Mr.Yau attended the scene and delivered a speech. The Director of the Education Bureau of Hong Kong, Dr Cai, and Professor Pan Weixian, Vice-Chancellor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong were invited to deliver the opening ceremony. Professor Zou Jun, dean of the Department of Mathematics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Professor Zhong Zixin, Deputy Director of the Department of Mathematics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Professor Chen Guowei, Deputy Director of the Department of Mathematics at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Professor Zhang Yihua, Yau Mathematics Science Center, Tsinghua University attended the event. Hao Yuheng, a College student in 2021, gave a report entitled "Emmy Noether's Contribution to Algebra", which explained Emmy Noether’s contribution and the influence of her work on mathematics from the aspects of Emmy Noether's life and her contribution to commutative Algebra, Norte's students and schools. This Youmu Lecture was the eleventh session of Qiuzhen College, which was strongly supported by the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong TV, and the China Association for Science and Technology. On August 14, the "Youmu Lecture" was held at Jinshan Middle School in Shantou City, Guangdong Province. Mr.Yau personally attended the scene and delivered a speech. Learning to understand Chinese history and culture and enhance cultural confidence is one of the goals of our College. To strengthen the education of patriotism and promote the spirit of patriotism, on August 12, Mr.Yau led the teachers and students of Qiuzhen College to visit the former site of Whampoa Military Academy in Guangzhou and feel the spirit of Whampoa on the spot. The teachers and students visited the memorial hall of the former site of the Whampoa Military Academy and listened to the explanation carefully. By visiting the faculty office, student dormitory, and canteen, repeatedly reading yellow books, and worn desks, we feel the student's hard learning conditions and diligent learning attitude, a deep comprehension of Whampoa predecessors with life and blood, patriotism, and revolution as the core spirit of Whampoa.

On August 14th, Mr.Yau led some students of QIuzhen College and 14 undergraduate students from Stanford University, Yale University, MIT, Princeton University, Harvard University, and other foreign universities to exchange views at the Shantou Welcome Hotel. During the exchange, Mr.Yau responded to the students' questions one by one. He introduced in detail the original intention and progress of the construction of mathematics history and cultural general course of Qiuzhen College, which is different from other universities at home and abroad, and emphasized the important role of returning to the fundamentals in the information age and mathematical understanding of the fundamental logic of new science and technology in the sustainable development of human society. The students of the five schools and the college sat down and introduced themselves in turn, and carried out active exchanges on each other's professional fields, study, and learning life in a relaxed and harmonious atmosphere.
