Qiuzhen College And Xiaomi Group Jointly Organized The Intelligent Robot Innovation Workshop

On December 7, Qiuzhen College and Xiaomi Group in Tsinghua University Shunde building 418 hall jointly organized the "intelligent bionic robot innovation workshop", Qiuzhen College, including doctoral students and undergraduates, nearly 30 students took part in the workshop, heard about millet "Tie Dan" second generation bionic quadrupedal robot (called "CyberDog" in English), and experience operation simulation machine dog, harvest the knowledge and fun in the field of artificial intelligence. Zhou Jujia, secretary general of the Technology Committee of Xiaomi Group, Xiang Yun, deputy general manager of the Business Division of Xiaomi Robot Technology Co., Ltd., Liu Kai and Yi Peng, engineers, and Wang Xiaofang, vice president of Qiuzhen College attended the workshop. In the field of artificial intelligence, Xiaomi Group adheres to the principles of science and technology, continuous innovation, and the spirit of open cooperation. For example, the second generation of "Iron Egg" intelligent bionic four-legged robot shared today can open the source code to the outside world to promote the development and upgrading of the robot field. He also pointed out that there are still a lot of mathematical problems to be solved in the dimensions of design, simulation, and motion control. Students have a very good foundation and innovation ability in mathematics. They expect to be combined with Xiaomi's high-precision comprehensive hardware platform, give full play to their strengths, think about the problems they are interested in, and solve them together with Xiaomi.

Under the guidance of several teachers from Xiaomi Group, the students worked in groups of three to operate the robot dog together. Perhaps out of interest, or with the aid of professional knowledge, students quickly got familiar with it and started to operate the robot flexibly. Some students also tried programming and added a lot of their ideas in the aspect of robot dog operation. After the practical operation, the students humbly asked the teachers of Xiaomi Group for advice, put forward some ideas and questions in mind, and discussed and communicated together.

Students have benefited a lot from the learning and experience of this workshop. Cheng Zhuo, a Qiuzhen student from Class 11, said, " I was deeply impressed by the backflip of the robot dog and the ability to get up after falling. I also personally controlled the robot dog and wrote some simple programs for it, which thought was very interesting.”

Zhou Ruizhe, a Qiuzhen student from Class 32, explained his view from the physical modeling and landing application of robots: " We try to calculate the motion of the bionic robot from the parameters of multi-sensors. This is a theoretical equation, but it is not enough to simulate the calculation. The complexity of equations caused by multiple parameters, whether to apply empirical formulas to replace complex equations and the computational accuracy and complexity are important issues that need to be considered in basic scientific research.”

Xu Jiawei, a PhD student of 2023, said, " By participating in this workshop, I have broadened my horizon and learned a lot beyond mathematics in this process. I hope the college can organize more similar activities in the future.”
