On September 26, 2023, Dr. Cai Ruolian, Director of the Education Bureau of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and her team, and the leaders and officers of the Beijing Office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, visited Tsinghua University and had cordial talks with Mr.Shing-Tung Yau, Dean of Qiuzhen College.
Yau expressed a warm welcome to Director Cai's visit. He pointed out that the meeting is a concrete measure for the CPC Central Committee and The State Council to strengthen deeper education cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong, and is also a move following the meeting with Hong Kong Chief Executive Li Jiachao in mid-August this year. Qiu introduced the mission of the College, the development of the college, the student training program and goals, the initial achievements, and the plan of hiring the professor."Good teachers and good students attract each other", the college relying on Shing-Tung Yau Mathematics Science Center and the advantages of teachers resources, the future will also attract the global top academic master, committed to cultivating a group of students with solid mathematics and theoretical physics foundation, leading China and the world basic mathematics and related application development talents.
Cai said, the Hong Kong Education Bureau fully recognized Mr.Yau’s educational concepts and ideas, will actively promote cooperation between the inner-land and Hong Kong colleges and universities, further enhance mutual understanding, constantly deepen exchanges and cooperation, especially represented by Qiuzhen College of Tsinghua University in mathematical basic science research fields, lead the Hong Kong young generation to strengthen the feelings, temper good skills, better into the country's overall development. It is hoped that the two sides will continue to promote in-depth cooperation in various fields in the future and cultivate more talent for the country.
