Eight Sounds in Ganzhou: A Mid-Autumn Festival Visit to Linzi

Taking advantage of the cool autumn for the east-forward tour, I visit my ancestors and go to Yingqiu. I see the old battlefield, where eagles fly over the Muye land, blood floating pestle, the great career being based on here. Old warriors held the Yue axes and Jing flags, occupying their earth to fight against the West Zhou dynasty. They created the art of war and followed the way of Taoism.
People always say that success is difficult to defend. Even if the King of Qi-huan won nine times, he could not fulfill his ambition in the end. I can just sigh that the time is easy to go away, with my head turning from black to white. I visit the ancestral hall, see the ancient pine green cypress, and read the story of Taigong, who began to prepare for himself when he was 80 years old. So I gradually raised my eyebrows, with my strong willingness for my future career, which is not aimed at gaining fame or power.
On the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day in 2023, Mr.Shing-Tung Yau, president of Qiuzhen College, led a group of more than 30 teachers and students from the College to carry out "Chinese History Practice Study Tour in Shandong and Henan".
On September 29, the Mid-Autumn Festival was a traditional Chinese festival. Dean Yau and his students gathered in Zibo, a famous Chinese historical city. On the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival, teachers and students had a discussion to enjoy the festival and celebrate the 74th anniversary of the motherland. At the symposium, Mr.Yau communicated with the students on the problems and ideas of study and life. Wang Xiaofang, Assosiate Dean of Qiuzhen College, Chen Zhijie, Zhu Ran, Assistant Dean and other teachers participated in the discussion.
At the meeting, the students actively asked questions, and Mr.Yau responded one by one. During the meeting, Mr.Yau told some stories when he was young, and the scene broke bursts of laughter from time to time. Teachers and students together, happy and harmonious.
Given the problems of students 'reading, Mr.Yau encouraged the students to enhance their reading, and expand their knowledge; for some students raised the foreign teaching professor accent, Mr.Yau shared his teaching experience, suggested that students preview before class, read more relevant books, which can effectively help the students understand the teacher's language and understand what the teachers taught in class. In addition, Mr.Yau encouraged students to communicate with teachers and make full use of various learning resources created by the College for everyone, such as actively participating in the "Tsinghua Open Issues Seminar (TOPS)" and lectures by famous teachers, etc., which will provide a lot of unexpected inspiration and help for their study and research direction."It may be hard for you to imagine that I once drove three hours to listen to a lecture, and the content of this lecture may not be in my major, but it is precisely because of this lecture that I gave some unexpected inspiration to my research work, which is helpful and meaningful!" Mr.Yau said so.
Mr.Yau discussed this with the students.
Finally, Mr.Yau put forward his ardent expectations for the students. He said: " I entered college in 1966 and conquered the Karabi conjecture in 1976, which took 10 years. All the students are excellent students from all over the country. Their learning conditions and resources are much better and much richer than I was. I really look forward to the Fields Award winner from the College to China within 10 years.”
Students actively put forward ideas and listened carefully to the teacher's suggestions.
Chen Zhijie responded to the questions of freshmen in the course selection. He explained the requirements for the credit limit of elective courses in the college, and suggested that everyone must ensure the study of the professional required courses at the beginning of the university, put more energy and time into the specialized courses, and learn the specialized courses well and deeply.

Wang Xiaofang mentioned that the College is committed to cultivating top talents in Chinese mathematical science and making contributions to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, which is a century-old plan of the country. Mr.Yau has made long-term and great efforts for the development of Qiuzhen College and the cultivation of Chinese mathematical talents. He is an example for the teachers and students of our college to learn from. The development of Chinese mathematics and basic science to the world's leading level cannot be achieved only by Mr.Yau but by all the teachers and students of the College working together to write a brilliant achievement. The teachers and students of Qiuzhen College should forge ahead and fulfill their mission!
