On the occasion of the 113th anniversary of Tsinghua University, Qiuzhen College celebrated its third birthday. On April 23rd, Qiuzhen College held its third-anniversary celebration in Mengminwei Concert Hall. Mr.Shing-Tung Yau, Dean of Qiuzhen College of Tsinghua University, Director of Yau Mathematical Sciences Center, and president of Beijing Institute of Mathematical Science and Applications, attended and delivered a speech. Rome was not built in a day. With the support of Tsinghua University and all sectors of society, and under the leadership of Dean Yau, the College has made remarkable achievements in many fields in the past year. The celebration of the college follows the theme of "Growth in time". At the beginning of the activity, we first played the video reviewing the development of the College for the past year and felt the growth of the past year together with all the guests, teachers, and students.
The college pays attention to the all-round development of students, especially by offering elective courses on piano and vocal music, and establishing the Qiuzhen Choir to improve the level of aesthetic education. At this important moment of the celebration of Qiuzhen, Liya Nigmati, the piano teacher of the College, carefully organized and led four students in the class to bring us a wonderful music tour. The first opening performance was by Xing ZiLong piano solo "Arabic style first", then Zhang Fuyao played the Beethoven piano sonata of the "moonlight sonata" third movement, Liu Ziang played the "piano feature: doctor ", Zhang Haotian played the" Rise c minor prelude ", the students won the applause. Since she became the piano teacher at Qiuzhen College, she has guided college students to break through in the piano performance art of herself, so that students can cultivate their sentiment and inspire their thinking with music in their spare time.
Last year, during the celebration, the College announced the establishment of the Qiuzhen Choir and hired Teacher Fu Linbo to serve as the art director of the College to lead the development of the choir. On the occasion of the third anniversary of the College, Mr.Fu Linbo sang the classic Shandong folk song "Who doesn't say my hometown is good", and directed the chorus of Qiuzhen College to record the song "Walking on the Country Road" and "Tomorrow will be better", wishing the College a better tomorrow. In addition, teachers from the Yau Mathematical Sciences Center of Tsinghua University and students from Qiuzhen College sang songs to celebrate the third anniversary of the college.

During the speech, Zhu Haoran, Li Haicheng, and Yang Mengqi, students of Qiuzhen College, shared their recent learning experiences and research findings with others. Among them, Zhu Haoran gave the keynote speech "Flat Cremona Group", introducing the theorem and history of the double rational automorphism group of the projective plane can be generated by linear transformation and Cremona transformation; Li Haotian made a speech on "Subcolumn method in the proof of powerful law", and summarized the subcolumn method in the process of the proof of powerful law and its possible application; Yang Mengqi's speech titled "Prato problem and minimal surface", which introduced the profound influence of the Prato problem and minimal surface on the development of geometry. The wonderful speeches of the three students added a strong academic atmosphere to the celebration, showing the appearance of striving hard and a solid mathematical foundation.

At this grand moment of celebration, the College organized the award ceremony for the 2022-2023 Academic Year. Since 2022, The College has set up truth-seeking awards for undergraduates, with the first prize and the second prize respectively. The Qiuzhen Award is the highest honor of the Qiuzhen College, mainly recognizing students who had excellent academic performance or outstanding performance in the mathematics competition of the previous academic year. Mr.Yau presented the certificate of honor to the students who won the Qiuzhen Award, encouraging them to continue to study hard and make further achievements.

Mr.Yau delivered a concluding speech on the third anniversary of the establishment of Qiuzhen College. He affirmed the achievements of the College in the past three years and put forward his ardent expectations for its future development. He said that along the way, the colleagues of the College have made great efforts and overcome many difficulties. Thank you for your efforts. Then, Mr.Yau, with his own learning and growth experience, encouraged the young students to set up lofty aspirations, brave difficulties, and walk out of a road that can create the direction of the whole discipline. "When I went to UC, Berkeley from Hong Kong, I met a lot of great scholars. I felt that I had a lot to learn, so I spent a lot of time to learn. For me, modesty is to understand their shortcomings, to strive to improve; but also to have confidence in yourself, do not belittle yourself, the key is that you have to learn, to work hard, learning will not be difficult.”Mr.Yau warned students to be confident and modest on the way forward. At the same time, he also suggested that students should not only pursue writing big articles but also write small articles because it can enrich everyone's knowledge.
