On April 23, the Qiuzhen College of Tsinghua University held its third-anniversary celebration at the Mengminwei Concert Hall. At the invitation of the College, nearly 40 parents of students from all over the country attended the celebration. Before the celebration, Mr.Shing-Tung Yau, president of the College, discussed with parents in Ningzhai, the exchange space of the College, and had in-depth communication on the development of the college, student training, teaching and research, and other topics. Lin Yong, Chen Zhijie, and Yitwah Chang, Associate Deans of Qiuzhen College, and Professor Yang Xiaokui of Yau Mathematical Sciences Center of Tsinghua University participated in the exchange. Associate Dean Wang Xiaofang presided over the symposium.

Wang Xiaofang shared with the parents the achievements of the development of the Qiuzhen College in the past three years, and specially introduced the progress of the construction of the Qiuzhen physical space. She expressed her gratitude to her parents for their continued support for the development and growth of the College. Wang Xiaofang introduced that on the occasion of the third anniversary, the College is promoting the construction of a labor practice base so that students can relax, temper their will and feel happy.
At the meeting, the parents expressed their gratitude to Mr.Yau and the teachers of the college for their care and dedication and put forward some questions and suggestions on the diversified cultivation and future development of the students. Mr.Yau and the teachers of the college gave detailed answers. Mr.Yau mentioned that this year is the fourth year of the establishment of Qiuzhen College. The students of our first Mathematics Leadership Program have entered the scientific research stage, which is an important stage of the College. The goal of Qiuzhen College is always to cultivate leading talents in mathematics and science and focus on communication with interdisciplinary disciplines related to engineering. He stressed that mathematics will have an important impact on the development of different disciplines such as theoretical physics, engineering technology, life science, and economics. He suggested that students actively participate in the "Youmu Lecture" series of general lectures, enrich their knowledge of the subject knowledge system, and be more prepared to meet the challenges in the future.

Symposium finally, Mr.Yau to parents and students put forward three expectations: one is the hope that students cultivate interest in learning, actively with teachers, helpful scholars and classmates discussion, actively take part during the annual summer vacation International Conference of Basic Science (ICBS), to listen to the world's top scientists academic report and project exchange, have the courage to explore interested in research direction, accumulate knowledge, rich academic background; secondly he hoped the students participating in the overseas practice and exchange, to fully seize the opportunity, with overseas university peers, teachers and consult their in-depth understanding of overseas university basic science research academic atmosphere, academic training characteristics and expertise and mathematics in cross how to play a greater role, etc.; thirdly, he wished that parents would be a strong backing for students, support and encourage students to make good use of the study time in Qiuzhen College, concentrate on learning, cultivate the ability to pursue knowledge, and lay a good academic foundation.

Under the leadership of Mr.Yau, after three years of development, the College has now become a big family of nearly 500 students, including undergraduates and graduate students. The growth of the students and the development of the college cannot be separated from the concerted efforts of the teachers and students of the college, as well as the care and support of the parents. The College is willing to work with the students’ parents to cultivate a group of leading mathematics talents in China.
