Abstract

In the late 1980s, Nigel Hitchin and Michael Wolf independently discovered a parametrization of the Teichmüller space of a compact surface by holomorphic quadratic differentials. In this talk, I will describe a generalization of their result where one replaces holomorphic differentials by meromorphic differentials. I will explain how this fits into an even more general story involving spaces of stability conditions and cluster varieties.

Teichmüller spaces, quadratic differentials, and cluster coordinates

AbstractIn the late 1980s, Nigel Hitchin and Michael Wolf independently discovered a parametrization of the Teichmüller space of a compact surface by holomorphic quadratic differentials. In this talk, I will describe a generalization of their result. I will explain how, by replacing holomorphic differentials by meromorphic differentials, one is naturally led to consider an object called the enh...

Rank one symmetric differentials over projective variety

AbstractRank one symmetric differentials, a concept introduced by Taubes, play a significant role in gauge theory and differential geometry. In this talk, we’ll dive into the world of rank one symmetric differentials over projective varieties. We’ll explore how rank one symmetric differentials are connected to Higgs bundles and a recent proposal by Chen-Ngo. Furthermore, we will explain how r...
