Abstract

The classical differential calculus of a higher order is provided by the graded algebra of differential forms on a smooth manifold with the operation of exterior differentiation. Our interest to this notion was motivated by a desire to develop a calculus of differential forms on discrete objects. As a rule, the role of discrete objects is played by discrete sets with additional relations as in digraphs or graphs. The methods of study are those of classical algebraic topology. The first basic results in this direction were obtained in the paper Grigor'yan A. A., Lin Y., Muranov Yu. V., Yau Sh.-T. Cohomology of digraphs and (undirected) graphs. Asian Journal of Mathematics, 2015, Vo. 19. No. 5, 887–932

One such recent example is a class of non-autonomous discrete dynamical systems known as discrete Painlevé equations whose role in a wide range of problems in mathematical physics has been...

Z3 Discrete Theta Angle in 10D Heterotic String Theory and Topological Modular Forms | BIMSA-Tsinghua String Seminar

AbstractIn this talk, we identify a Zs discrete gravitational theta angle in the non-supersymmetricSO(16) x SO(16) heterotic string, which is detected by a 10D spacetime manifold that is anSp(2) group manifold. In the first part, we explain the string theory computation that identifies thisZ, theta angle, involving non-perturbative anomaly on the instantonic NS5 branes. in the secondpart, we mo...
