Fusion Rules of Edge Excitations in Topological Order | BIMSA-Tsinghua Quantum Symmetry Seminar

Abstract

We re-examine the issue of boundary excitations at topological boundaries or junction defectsbetween different topological boundaries in nonchiral bosonic topological orders in 2+1 dimensionsThrough physical reasoning, we derive a formula that connects the fusion rules of boundaryexcitations with the "half-linking" number between condensed anyons and confined boundaryexcitations. This formula serves as a direct analogue to the Verlinde formula. Additionally, weillustrate how these half-linking numbers can be calculated in specific Abelian and non-Abelianscenarios.
