Title:

Dihedral cone spherical metrics and measured foliations

Abstract:

The study of cone spherical metrics traces back to the uniformization problem of Riemann surfaces by Picard and Poincare. This topic has continued to captivate researchers across fields in recent decades. In this talk, we focus on a special subclass called dihedral metrics, which are characterized by their monodromy groups. By utilizing measured foliations, we obtain a picture of their geometric decomposition and deformation. As an application, we compute the dimension of the moduli space for dihedral metrics with prescribed cone angles on a compact topological surface. This is a joint work with Bin Xu.

      Geometric decompositions of spherical surfaces

AbstractIt is well-known that any plane polygon can be decomposed along its diagonals into flat triangles. The analog does not hold for spherical polygons. We prove that any compact surface with constant positive curvature and conical singularities can be decomposed into irreducible components of standard shape, glued along geodesic arcs connecting conical singularities. The irreducible compone...
