Title:

3d gravity with end-of-the-world branes as a random ensemble

Abstract:

I will review some recent work on the understanding of 3d gravity and its dual description which seems to be an ensemble of 2d CFTs. I will then describe the extension of several aspects to allow CFTs living on bordered Riemann surfaces, i.e., BCFTs. We will see that the bulk theory becomes richer, and in some cases, we can explicit solve the bulk side to find an exact match between the bulk and a boundary description. The talk will cover parts of 2504.12278, 2506.19817 and 2512.05045.

3D gravity as an average large-c CFT Geometry and Physics Seminar

AbstractEuclidean wormholes have played an important role in recent progress on 2D gravity and on black hole information in higher dimensions. However, these spacetimes can also lead to puzzling results that seem to disagree with quantum mechanics and the AdS/CFT correspondence, which has led to the suggestion that wormholes arise from coarse-graining over UV degrees of freedom. I will explain ...

A gentle introduction to the 3d/3d correspondence

AbstractIn this talk, I will survey the development of the 3d/3d correspondence in the past years. The 3d/3d correspondence is the duality between complex Chern-Simons theory on a 3-manifold and 3d N=2 theory labeled by the 3-manifold. Although the full picture is yet to be uncovered, it exhibits a spectacular interplay between topology of 3-manifolds and QFT. In this talk, I introduce establis...
