Abstract

In the late 1980s, Nigel Hitchin and Michael Wolf independently discovered a parametrization of the Teichmüller space of a compact surface by holomorphic quadratic differentials. In this talk, I will describe a generalization of their result where one replaces holomorphic differentials by meromorphic differentials. I will explain how this fits into an even more general story involving spaces of stability conditions and cluster varieties.

  • Geometry of moduli spaces of quadratic differentials and applications

Abstract Moduli spaces of quadratic differentials on Riemann surfaces appear in quite different contexts such as the dynamics of polygonal billiards and spaces of stability conditions. This talk provides an introduction to the geometry of these moduli spaces and compares the state of the art with the knowledge on the classical moduli space of curves.About the Speaker Martin MöllerGoethe-Univers...
