Abstract

The study of wave propagation on black hole spacetimes has been an intense field of research over the last decades. This interest is driven by the stability problem for black holes and by scattering questions. In the case of Maxwell's equations and the equations of linearized gravity, it is possible to base the analysis on the study of the Teukolsky equation, which has the advantage of being scalar in nature. I will present a result providing the large time leading-order term for initially localized and regular solutions and valid for the full subextremal range of black hole parameters. I will also present some aspects of the proof which relies on spectral and microlocal methods.

  • Hawking Radiation, Entanglement Entropy, and Information Paradox of Kerr Black Holes

AbstractThe black hole microstates and the related problems such as Hawking radiation and information paradox are central problems in theoretical physics. Although there is some recent progress based on the so-called island formula, the physical meaning of islands still needs to be clarified. For rotating Kerr black holes, a near-horizon conformal symmetry can be constructed. Inspired by this r...

  • Quantum Aspects of Black Holes

PrerequisiteGeneral Relativity, Field Theory, String TheoryAbstractStarting with an overview of the classical/semi-classical aspects of black holes, this course will emphasise black hole quantum aspects. We will review the basic aspects of these objects and their thermodynamics, the derivation of Hawking radiation and examine different formulations/resolutions of the information paradox. Then w...
