Abstract

In this talk we will briefly review recent research in the homotopy types of suspended manifoldswhich have rich applications to the characterization of classical invariants in geometry, topology andphysics. In particular, we shall talk about the suspension splitting of a closed orientable non-simply-.connected 5-manifold and its applications. This is a joint work with Zhongjian Zhu.

  • Mapping Cones on Manifolds | BIMSA Topology Seminar

AbstractMany manifolds of interest are equipped with a geometrical structure specified by a distinguished closed form. We will motivate the usefulness of considering pairs of differential forms that are linked together by a map of the distinguished form. We will show how this lead to new notions of Morse theory and flat connections, and also novel Yang-Mills type functionals. This talk is based...
