BIMSA-LREIS Seminar on Geographic Information Science and Earth System Model

Time:2022-12-29 Thu 19:00-20:00

Venue:Tencent: 573 5366 8013

Organizer:Yi Liu, Chenliang Wang

Speaker:Mingtang Chai Ningxia University

Abstract

This talk aims to present applications of common mathematical models in permafrost research based on our research experience. (1) Permafrost distribution model (active layer thickness and mean annual ground temperature); (2) Unfrozen water content calculation models; (3) Thermal disturbance of improved cemented frozen soil; (4) Hydro-thermal-salinity coupling model.

Speaker Intro

Mingtang Chai is a associate professor in NingXia University. His main research interests are hydro-thermal characteristics in permafrost, seasonally frozen soil, and permafrost engineering. He graduated with a PhD in cold engineering and environment in Northwest Institute of Eco-Environment and Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

BIMSA-LREIS-VGE Seminar on Geographic Information Science and Earth System Model

AbstractTo study the role of the biosphere in the Anthropocene, it is crucial to represent both natural and agricultural ecosystems in a single, internally consistent modelling framework. The model LPJmL ("Lund-Potsdam-Jena managed Land") is designed to simulate vegetation composition and distribution as well as stocks and land-atmosphere exchange flows of carbon and water, for both natural and ...

[YMSC-BIMSA Quantum Information Seminar] Fundamental Limitation on the Detectability of Entanglement

Abstract:Entanglement detection is essential in quantum information science and quantum many-body physics. It has been proved that entanglement exists almost surely for a random quantum state, while the realizations of effective entanglement criteria usually consume exponential resources, and efficient criteria often perform poorly without prior knowledge. This fact implies a fundamental limit...
