Abstract

Configurations of axis-parallel boxes inare extensively studied in combinatorial geometry. Despite their innocent appearance, there are many old problems involving their structure that are still not well understood. I will talk about a construction, which shows that starting from dimension, configurations of boxes are more complicated than people conjectured.

Speaker Intro

Istvan Tomon obtained his PhD from the University of Cambridge. After spending several years at EPFL and ETH Zurich, he is currently employed at Umea University. His research is focused on extremal combinatorics and related areas. In 2021, he received the European Prize in Combinatorics for his contributions in Ramsey and extremal hypergraph theory.

Gromov-Witten invariants of elliptic curves and configuration space integrals

AbstractGenerating series of enumerative invariants are often suprisingly connected to period integrals. In this lecture I will explain two ways of establishing relations between Gromov-Witten invariants of elliptic curves and configuration space integrals. One is representation-theoretic based on works of Bloch-Okounkov and Okoukov-Pandharipande, the other is geometric via mirror symmetry. I w...

      Isoresidual fibration and resonance arrangements

AbstractMeromorphic 1-forms on the Riemann sphere with prescribed orders of singularities form strata endowed with period coordinates. Fixing residues at the poles defined a fibration of any stratum to the vector space of configurations of residues. For strata of 1-forms with only one zero, the isoresidual fibration is a cover of the space of configurations of residues ramified over an arrangem...
