Title:

Discrete confocal quadrics and incircular nets

Abstract:

We propose a geometric discretisation of confocal quadrics that are described by an integrable system. These correspond to triply orthogonal coordinate systems, also known as elliptic coordinates. We also demonstrate that special discrete confocal conics lead to incircular nets. The latter are comprised of line congruences that build elementary quadrilaterals with inscribed circles. This is an elementary talk with many pictures and incidence theorems in projective, hyperbolic, and Laguerre geometries.

One such recent example is a class of non-autonomous discrete dynamical systems known as discrete Painlevé equations whose role in a wide range of problems in mathematical physics has been...

Cohomology theory on discrete sets and digraphs

AbstractThe classical differential calculus of a higher order is provided by the graded algebra of differential forms on a smooth manifold with the operation of exterior differentiation. Our interest to this notion was motivated by a desire to develop a calculus of differential forms on discrete objects. As a rule, the role of discrete objects is played by discrete sets with additional relation...
