Title:

Compact totally geodesic hypersurfaces in Lorentz-Finsler geometry and their surface gravity

Abstract

:

We introduce some elements of Lorentz-Finsler geometry. Then we present a definition of totally geodesic hypersurface in Lorentz-Finsler geometry, which allows for the Finslerian generalization of a number of results from Lorentzian geometry, including a proof that under the null energy condition, provided some additional conditions hold, the surface gravity is constant. Given the interpretation of surface gravity as temperature, this result expresses the zeroth law of thermodynamics and can be used to support specific Finslerian gravitational equations.
