Title:

From Fuel to Engine: Understanding and Building Quantum Advantage

Abstract:

What gives quantum computers their computational advantage, and how can that advantage be realized in scalable hardware? This talk addresses these complementary questions. The first part presents a resource-theoretic perspective based on the quasiprobability distribution. I show how positivity characterizes a broad class of efficiently classically simulable computations and establishes nonpositivity as a necessary resource for computational quantum advantage. The second part focuses on resource analysis of fault-tolerant quantum computing. As a case study, I present a hardware-aware resource analysis of logical magic-state generation across several silicon architectures. Together, these works illustrate how insights from quantum resource theory can guide the design of scalable quantum computing architectures.
