Description:

This course is an introduction to theoretical quantum information science. The main goal of this course is to provide an overview of the central concepts and methods in the theory of quantum information and computation, with a potential focus on its interconnections with physics and mathematics, to equip the participants with an adequate background to explore research in theoretical quantum information science as well as its cross-disciplinary applications. Depending on the progress and demand, the course may include a more in-depth introduction to the frontiers in quantum information research.

Prerequisite:

Linear algebra; Group theory, information theory, quantum mechanics (preferable)

Biography:

Zi-Wen Liu is an Assistant Professor at Yau Mathematical Sciences Center. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from MIT in 2018. Dr. Liu’s research interests span quantum information science. Lately, he has been particularly interested in the interactions between quantum information & computation theory and other disciplines, especially theoretical physics and mathematics. As a first or corresponding author, he has published multiple papers in leading journals in quantum information and physics, including Physical Review Letters, Physical Review X Quantum, Quantum, Journal of High Energy Physics.
